EDITORS’ NOTE

The anniversary 10th issue of "Logical Investigations" is come out as a continuing publication of Russian Academy of Sciences (by Nauka Publishers). It was quite uneasy to launch this series, but due to the unleashed energy of V.A.Smirnov (the first editor in chief), with the active support of the director of Institute of philosophy RAS V.S.Stepin, and also L.S.Davydova and G.I.Chertkova we have overcome all the difficulties and now we arrive to this anniversary. Special thanks to E.A.Zhukova who did the highly complicated editor work for the issues of this series.

Each issue has its own - sometimes dramatical - history. In 1993 there were published two earliest issues; the next issue was published only in 1995; after that there was another in 1997, and regularly since then; but the 6th issue (1999) was published by ROSSPEN publishing company.

Nowadays "Logical Investigations" as a matter of fact is the single in Russia specialized edition in logic which contains works on symbolic logic as well as works on philosophical logic. The edition became wide-famed abroad; and it is cited by the main bulletins "Mathematical Review" and "Zentralblatt MATH". In the anniversary 10th issue of "Logical Investigations" there are published papers where new results obtained in various fields of contemporary logic are presented. Also there are published papers which were prepared after the plenary talks of the 4th international conference "Smirnov Readings" (Moscow, May 2003). Then the Russian-English bibliographical index of papers printed between 1993 and 2003 inclusively is published. As appears just from a cursory reading of this index, a number of works will make a valuable contribution to logic in our country.

The issue is addressed to everybody who is interested in logic and its applications in various branches of science.
