Warszawa, November 18, 2009
Professor Yuri Michailovich Luzhkov MoscowCity Mayor Moscow, ulitsa Tverskaya 13 125032, Russia,
Dear Sir,
The Executive Committee of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences has recently learned that the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences is to be moved out of its present location in the centre of the city. We hope that Your Excellency, as the Mayor and the Honorary Professor of the most important Russian academic institutions, will reconsider this plans.
The Institute of Philosophy in Moscow in its present location has been perfectly demonstrating - by its research activity and its international cooperation - the significance of Russian philosophy for the world philosophical heritage. The decision of UNESCO to place in Moscow, in this Institute, 2009 celebration of the International Philosophy Day has been confirming its important role for the Russian and international philosophical community.
We do believe that thanks of your intervention the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences will remain in its traditional location.
Yours sincerely,
Prof. dr hab. Józef Niżnik Chairman of the Executive Committee |
